Already half way through..!
I've made a pretty poor effort at writing these blogs so far, but I have been very busy and distracted by the endless delights that Spain and Leon have to offer...
My main endeavours comprise of; locating suitable shops to purchase coffee beans from, trying as much tapas (and accompanying wine...) as I can, and struggling to communicate with the locals using my exceptionally limited Spanish. Mi Espanol es muy malo!
Oh, and, of course, planning and teaching all my lessons!
I have been teaching 5 different classes of ages 11-12 and 13-14. I thought I might be intimated teaching teenagers, and would struggle to build rapport with them but that has not been the case. They are all lovely, enthusiastic and welcoming. I really enjoy spending time in classes with them and my amazing tutor Mariajo. My 1C class are a bit mental and don't stop talking; teaching them is sometimes like trying to swim up a waterfall without any arms, but I love them all the same.
On an unrelated note here is a picture of me trying to pour some cider in the traditional Asturian way. Emphasis on the 'trying'... It went everywhere.
COFFEE FEATURE: Ethiopian beans have nearly run out. Not so disappointed as they are not so fresh and appear to have been roasted a long time ago. Flavour has been acceptable. Drawdown time has improved. Still a slight bitterness owed either to the lack of freshness or over extraction due to the mug diameter lengthening drawdown time. Will experiment with a different kind of bean and a different sized mug. Watch this space.
