Things I didn't need to pack and things I wished I had
Stuff matters when I'm miles away from home, limited on space and teaching. Here's what I now think is important - hope it helps someone sometime....
Things I didn't need to bring with me...
- A fan, it is cold here in Valencia. What was I thinking??
- Baked beans, teabags etc because of the wonderful Carrefour....I have a tin of Branston Baked Beans saved for a special occasion
- Any summer clothes - it is cold here, did I say that?
- Any smart clothes - teachers are all in fleeces, trainers and very casual clothing
Things I wished I had brought...
- Heatpack, warm socks, slippers, winter clothes - it is cold here, did I say that? Others in the flat who shall remain nameless have been searching for a hot water bottle and now have one!
- More tech, more adapters, more cables to connect to the school's systems, more plugs, USB memory sticks. I would have loved to pack a printer because begging for printing every day is not fun.
- A proper book instead of a Kindle
Things I have bought since being here...
- A duvet (yes, really, honestly, it is amazing)
- An extension lead with sockets galore. I was actually thrilled with this purchase
- 85GB of data for 40Euros so I can stay connected
- Scissors - like gold dust in the school
Thank goodness for...
- WhatsApp for chatting with the teachers, other Erasmusers and home
- My laptop for creating really simple slides. Printing is beyond difficult at school.
- A couple of felt tips and some A4 paper, they have gone a long way.
- My yoga mat which means I do yoga every day when I fall out of bed and acts as a rug on a freezing tiled floor
